1949
Rinken Teruya was born October, 1949 in Okinawa City. Rinken was brought up in a musically inclined family. His grandfather, Rinzan Teruya was a reknown Ryukyu classic musician and his father, Rinsuke Teruya was a comical musician who dominated the Okinawan entertainment scene. Teruya family also runs a musical instrument and record store and also owns the Okinawan folk music label, “Maruteru Records.”

Rinken establishes his band, the Rinken Band
1985
The song, “Arigato” was used for the Orion Beer commercial and becomes a major hit in Okinawa.
1987
Debut album “Arigato” is released on cassette tape from Maruteru Records.
1989
Rinken was appointed as the music director in the film, “Untamagiru”
May, 1990
“Arigato” released in Japan on CD. Rinken Band was selected to represent Japan at the Tokyo Music Festival, Asia.

Preformed live at Club Gossip in London, and Bourgeois Spring Festival in France.
